  • 2 cups heavy cream plus an additional ½ cup for caramel
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sea salt to taste

Instructions

Instructions:

    Prepare Caramel:

    • In a sauté pan, melt granulated sugar over low heat, stirring constantly until it liquefies and turns golden brown.
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, warm up ½ cup of heavy cream for 30 seconds. Gradually pour the warm cream into the hot caramel, stirring continuously until smooth. Allow the caramel mixture to cool.

    Whip Heavy Cream:

    • In a large mixing bowl, whip the 2 cups of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

    Combine Ingredients:

    • In a separate bowl (or directly in the can of sweetened condensed milk), mix together the condensed milk and vanilla extract.
    • Gently fold the condensed milk mixture into the whipped cream in thirds, ensuring thorough incorporation.

    Add Caramel Swirl:

    • Swirl the cooled caramel into the ice cream mixture, creating ribbons of caramel throughout.

    Freeze:

    • Transfer the ice cream mixture into a freezer-safe container, smoothing the top with a spatula.
    • Cover the container and freeze the ice cream for a minimum of 4 hours, or until firm.

    Serve:

    • Once the ice cream has hardened, scoop it into bowls and sprinkle with sea salt for an added touch of flavor.
    • Enjoy your homemade salted caramel ice cream as a delightful dessert or treat anytime!
